Long Drive to Austria

So after a long wait we are finally off to the Adidas Sickline, Austria!
However after receiving a call from Richie at 8:30am letting us know he had just dislocated his shoulder again pushing a tractor, things weren't looking good. Five hours later his out of A&E after having his shoulder put back in!

We met up at Richies to load up before heading to Rob's and pick him up.

Still taking way to much gear, even though we're not camping!
Made it to checkin before planned, even with delays.
The happy tourist.
After a 12 hour drive we finally arrived in Oetz. Unpacked and relaxed we decided to head up to the course and have a look. Before hand we looked at the online Gauge which was currently showing 213cm, high.
Middle section - TNT
Champion's Killer -1 and Champions Killer.
After looking at the course we decided to get on below Champions Killer and paddle the Slalom Course and down to Area 47 (Lower Oetz).

100...

So it started with a "fancy a little road ride on Saturday, 70-80 miles OK???" yep sounds fine to me, OK I'll work a route out and send it across. This turns up the following morning.....

100 miler. OK I'm game if you game so there it was challenge set, Saturday morning 100 miles to Wells and back, farthest distance to date in fact double our record!

We both decided to make flapjacks for the journey to keep us fuelled

Daniel's Cranberry and
 Almond flapjacks
Alan's cherry and white chocolate
Saturday morning 7:30 am Alan turns up to mine, after unloading his bike and kitting up we were set to go for 8:15,  after a few technical issues with the Garmin getting confused as to what direction we taking at the start we finally leave at 8:30, at this point the sun is shining, all be it a little fresh but looking like it is going to be a really nice day. We set of with a really good pace averaging around 21-22 mph feeling good within no time we were in Kings Lynn not fancying playing chicken on the A47 we went through town. Traffic was starting to build but there was no easy route past.
Daniel ready for the off
Next milestone was making it to Hunstanton getting there involved incline, only very little incline but being from the Fens this was not what I'm use too. With a lap of Hunstanton done next is along the coastal road to Wells, get to Wells and we are at the 51 mile point stopping for a rest, it occurred that we had now equalled our furthest distance and every thing from here was uncharted territory, had we drank enough? had we eaten enough? had we paced ourself's right?
Break time at wells harbour
As we continue we get to 60 miles legs are getting tired I had run out of food and water at this point, now back in the countryside trying to find a shop or open pub was proving difficult. I'm starting to struggle to keep a decent pace now, 10 miles and 2 brief stops later we find a village store refuelled and rehydrated we continue. Feeling good again now we continued pushing to the end, looking at the distance left we decide that it would be good to try and finish it in 5 hrs 30 mins meaning we needed to average 18 mph. Then it struck me CRAMP 20 miles left feeling like I may have to stop competently, 10 mins of stretching it out and I manage to continue now wishing the we had stuck to the original pace of 18 mph and not gone all out for the first 20 miles at 21 mph. With the last five miles upon us Alan is off trying to make the 5 hrs 30 min, I try everything I've got to keep up but cant he's just getting further and further away from me, finally getting back to mine in 5 hrs 31 mins 29 seconds I get here about 60 seconds later glad its over.

Would I do it again??? Defiantly just will be a little more prepared and wont go so mad at the start.
